The primary raw materials of each Goud Bos bio-jewelry are natural and delicate.
The durability will depend on the basic care dedicated to the piece. We want your jewelry to keep in tip-top shape for years to come!
We have some helpful tips to take good care of your Goud Bos bio-jewelry pieces:
- Protect your jewelry from water, lotions/creams, perfume, sweat, and other liquids. If your piece gets wet, wipe it dry;
- Do not wear your jewelry while sleeping;
- Do not bend or crush jewelry crafted from Buriti, Banana Fiber or Golden Grass;
- Take off your jewelry before swimming, bathing or showering;
- Avoid practicing sports with your jewelry on, as natural fibers can change color in excessive contact with sweat;
- Store your piece individually in a pouch and be careful with bright sunlight;
- A good rule of thumb: put your jewelry on last (after makeup, perfume, sunscreen, etc.) and take it off first thing.
*Important notes:
- natural fibers can darken over time because they are not in their natural habitat;
- gold-plated pieces may show wear with continuous use as a natural process, not characterizing a defect.
Why does jewelry discolour?
Why jewelry discolours and how quickly this happens depends on a few factors:
- Exposure to sunlight and oxygen can cause jewelry’s oxidation;
- The acidity of your skin can cause the gold layer to wear off more quickly, but this varies from person to person and is beyond your control;
- Use of perfumes, lotions, and other chemical-based products.
